  • “The truth is that my first librarian job in reference & instruction is also the first job I’ve ever had that never got boring. I tell people this all the time, non-librarian people, & they raise their eyebrows at me. I know what they’re thinking. To the uninitiated, being a librarian sounds like the most boring job they could imagine, but the truth (according to me, anyway) is that we have one of the richest, most varied, & wonderfully complicated careers in the world. Of course, that’s also what makes our jobs so challenging, since we have to juggle all those things & still try to maintain both our professionalism & our mental health. It’s not always easy, but it definitely keeps things interesting.”
